Eleanor is one week old! Hard to believe an entire week has gone by already, but so it would seem. Eleanor is adjusting very well to our somewhat chaotic household. She can sleep soundly through the boys chasing each other through the house and screaming their heads off, and doesn't bat an eye when the dogs are barking and chasing the cats. She is totally unfazed by the doorbell or phone ringing or by the TV or radio playing. The only things that can really be guaranteed to wake her up are when I try to sit down to eat dinner or if she is left alone for more than 40 minutes at night (and by "alone" I mean in the pack and play or co-sleeper, places she sleeps just fine all by herself during the day).

Fraser and Hammie seem to really enjoy having their baby sister here. Whenever they come into the room where I am (usually the living room, where I am still sleeping sitting up on the couch since my stitches don't permit me to get up from bed yet, fun fun fun.) they immediately look for Eleanor and check to see how she is. Fraser calls her Eleanor now, but Hammie still refers to her as "baby" or occasionally "Elmo." They both like to give her kisses and pet her arms and belly. Sure, it is sort of like she is their pet hamster, but it is cute nonetheless.

Hammie, as predicted, has started using all sorts of new words since my parents have arrived. He now says things like apple and chicken and of course Keekey and Grandpa. He also has started making this strange noise that sounds a lot like a guinea pig, just because he seems to enjoy making it. Fraser finds the entire baby routine truly fascinating. He likes to predict the next step in the process ("Are you going to change her diaper?" or when I'm going to feed her "Are you going to put her on a pillow?") When she cries Fraser is very concerned and often asks what is wrong. When I answer "Nothing really, she just wants to eat" or "She doesn't like having her diaper changed." he raises an eyebrow and looks at her like "Well, that does seem like a bit of an overreaction don't you think?"

If that isn't the pot calling the kettle black.
