Yesterday Fraser suffered his first official major walking injury. Our dog Pablo knocked Fraser over on the concrete ramp to the barn and Fraser landed directly on his face. As you can see, he has an impressive war wound on both his upper and lower lips, but his teeth are all still intact. He cried, of course, when it first happened (I imagine it must have h
urt like hell) but when his mouth started to fill with blood he seemed more shocked than anything else. He was very good about sucking on an ice cube to try to get the swelling to go down and the bleeding to stop, but he kept trying to eat the paper towel I was using to dab at his lip. The good news is that I neither felt
nauseous nor fainted at the sight of his blood this time, so I think that is progress.

Last week we took our week long family vacation to Maine and Fraser had a blast. He especially enjoyed pretending to drive the tractor and getting lots and lots of attention from his grandparents and all his aunts and uncles. On Wednesday we were lucky enough to be invited out on a boat by some of the
McBeth's friends, and Fraser got his ride on the ocean. There are some great pictures of Fraser and the boat but, as they were not taken with our

camera, I have to wait for someone to e-mail them to me before I can share them. I do, however, have plenty of pictures from our next trip to the coast on Friday when Fraser took his first dip in the
Atlantic ocean, fully clothed.
The water was absolutely freezing but it didn't seem to faze him at all. He just plopped right down on a rock and started playing with the rocks, sand and seaweed. Fraser also had his first taste of lobster that day. He didn't object to it, but given the choice he went for his grill cheese instead.
Now we are home and, since we had some of the floors refinished while we were

gone, the house is in even more of a state of chaos and
upheaval than it usually is. I think I must be starting my nesting period because the mess bothers me a lot more right now than it usually would.
Unfortunately, I haven't had much of a chance to start organizing as Fraser has been very vocal about his
disappointment at having only me to look at after being surrounded by people for a week, so I have spent the past few days trying get him out of the house and keep him entertained.
