We have had a very busy and eventful week in the McBeth family this week which (along with the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) accounts for my total lack of recent bloggging. So here is the the update....

Last Thursday the 19th, when I was precisely half way through my pregnancy, Andy, Fraser and I went in for my ultrasound. The baby looks nice and healthy, and rather large (13 ounces already) and we're having a boy! We tried to point Fraser's new baby brother out to him, but he couldn't have been less interested. About the only thing he was interested in was trying to ensure he had 100% of Andy's attention at all times. I'm starting to wonder how gracefully Fraser is going to make the transition from only child to older brother. After the ultrasound Fraser and Andy came to my doctor's appointment with me and as we waited in the exam room Fraser started walking! It was was exciting! He just seemed to decide it was time and he took off. By the time the doctor came in Fraser was walking all around the room and wandering out into the hallway!

Thursday afternoon we left for Maine for a long weekend. Our friends Chessy and Bob and their daughter came to stay with us too. Eva is only two weeks older than Fraser so, as you can see, they had a great time hanging out together. Andy's friends Jen and Kevin were up too with their two kids Molly and Jack. Fraser absolutely loved Molly and she was great with him. She's only 4 and half, so I don't think I'll be hiring her as a babysitter anytime soon, but she kept Fraser plenty entertained just by playing with him. This was a huge help as the house in Maine is not at all childproofed and Fraser has a knack for getting into everything he's not supposed to.

I'll put a video of Fraser walking on utube for anyone who won't been seeing him anytime soon. He's still a little wobbly, but he's really getting the hang of it now. The poor cats were completely horrified when he got home and Fraser started walking around and lunging at them. It think they had only just accepted his crawling.

Yesterday we went to Davis Farmland for the first time and, despite the excessive heat, Fraser had lots of fun. He thought the cows were a little scary, but the goats and chickens were very amusing. He even got to pet a snake! By far the biggest hit of the day was the water park though. He had a blast walking through the sprays and playing in the water tables. The only problem was that he was quite determined to eat the wood chips around the edges of the park, and we had an ongoing battle of wills over that all day. Unfortunately, since I had to watch him pretty closely with the animals and the water I didn't get any pictures of him until we got to the playground. Still, he's pretty happy with the fake animals and vegetables too!
