This was a big day of "firsts" for Eleanor. She got her very first haircut this afternoon and she was very very good! It didn't hurt that the hairdresser has a Papillon in the salon so Eleanor, Fraser and Hammie were fascinated by the tiny canine running back and forth. Hammie kept saying "I really like your dog! We have a dog, but he is bigger, his name is Jackson, but I really like your dog!" I decided to have the hair dresser cut bangs for Eleanor. I know, we'll end up growing them out eventually and I will probably regret it when that day comes, but right now she keep pulling her barrette out of her hair and losing it, so half the time when we are out all her hair is hanging straight down in her face and I don't see how she can possibly see where she is going. So bangs it is, at least for now. On a side note, the photo of Eleanor with the hairdresser was taken by Hammie since I had to hold Eleanor on my lap. I thought it was pretty good!

Eleanor also peed on the potty for the very first time this morning! Hammie had finished sitting on the little kids potty which was in the living room and Eleanor walked up pointing at the potty and pulling on the top of her pajamas like she was trying to unzip them. I asked "Do you want to sit on the potty too?" and she nodded yes. So, off went the pajamas and the diaper and she sat happily on the potty holding the TV remote for a few minutes (long enough for me to take some really funny photos!) When she stood up she had peed on the potty! Of course no one was more surprised than Eleanor to see there was pee in the potty, but it was very exciting just the same! I e-mailed Andy at work to tell him and I think his response was spot on, "She definitely doesn't want to be left out!"

And Eleanor's final first of the day, she got to take her very first sled ride with Fraser and Hammie (without Mommy or Daddy in the sled with her). Eleanor was very excited and Fraser and Hammie were just as thrilled. The first trip down the hill went perfectly. Fraser had gotten very good at using his feet to slow the sled down so they came to a nice easy stop before either running through the raspberry patch or plunging off the snow cliff into the path that Andy has snowblown. Eleanor was laughing happily at the bottom and Fraser and Hammie were very proud of themselves that Eleanor was having such a good time. The second trip started out well, but half way down Jackson decided he just couldn't take this sledding madness anymore (he gets really worked up when the kids get in the sleds and tries to bite the front of the sleds). Jackson ran in front of the sled and tried to bite the sled, but since it was still moving he ended up getting knocked into the sled. That brought the sled ride to an end. So, I guess getting landed on by a neurotic Great Dane while riding in a moving sled was another first for Eleanor today, that's one for the baby book for sure. Still, as you can see from the photo below as they walked the rest of the way down the hill, neither Fraser, Hammie, Eleanor nor Jackson were permanently scarred by the experience.
