Today was finally the day that Fraser and Hammie have been looking forward to for an entire year! No, not Fraser's birthday or Hammie's birthday or even Christmas. That's right woodchuck chuckers, today was DPW Day!! The Fitchburg DPW invites kids to come and play on all their super cool trucks and even lets them sit inside a working excavator! As you can imagine, this is nothing short of nirvana for the boys. Eleanor was a trooper and really hung in there for 2 whole hours despite the constant honking of all the truck horns and being stuck in the stroller for almost the entire time. Fraser said his favorite part of the day was the backhoe. Hammie said his was the excavator, and ALL the trucks. Mommy's favorite part was meeting the DPW cat who was hanging out on the wall on the way in. Actually, my real favorite part was after we met and petted the cat and Hammie turned to me and said "I like this cat. Can we put him in our basement?" Andy would have died. But after two hours of climbing in and out of trucks, beeping horns, working excavators, eating donuts, meeting dogs and climbing in and out of trucks again, everyone, not just Eleanor, was all done. On our way out of the DPW I pointed out to Fraser and Hammie that they are going to owe their sister an awful lot of pretty princess tea parties after all these field trips we drag her on!
