Well, the good news is that Fraser seems to be feeling much better now. We took him to the doctor last Tuesday and it looks like he has bronchiolitis, the same thing he had last winter. It is somewhat discouraging since I was really hoping he wouldn't be spending the entire winter ill yet again, but also encouraging since he has been using the nebulizer for almost a week now and it seems to really be helping this time. His pediatrician indicated that Fraser may have asthma, but since we have no family history of asthma, and no one Fraser is ever around smokes, I remain pretty skeptical on this point. Anyway, Fraser is now back to trying to dance onto the kitchen table and running through the house leaving a trail of chaos in his wake. (The photo is from last Sunday when Andy took Fraser sledding in the backyard. Apparently Fraser was a little apprehensive, but always glad to spend as much time as possible with Daddy.)

The bad news is that Hammie is now sick and it appears he too has bronchiolitis. I took him to the doctor today since his "cold" has been getting steadily worse for a week. He now has a very stuffy nose and a horrible cough. He has been throwing up a couple times a day in an effort to get the mucus out of his lungs, and just like his big brother he sounds like a bowl of rice crispies when he breathes. Yummy. Of course with Hammie it is much more complicated to treat his illness since he is still so young, but he too will now need the nebulizer every 4 to 6 hours. Ask me how the hell I am going to manage to nebulize both of them and I will give you my very best stupefied, deranged mommy look.
On the positive side, Hammie's illness doesn't seem to be affecting his growth yet, though he isn't eating as much as he usually does. At his one month checkup last Tuesday he was 22 and half inches long and weighed 12 pounds. Today he weighed 12 pounds 4 ounces. The doctor we saw didn't seem concerned about his weight, and even went so far as to point out that Hammie is quite large for 5 weeks. I think I'll take that as a compliment. It is at least nicer than having someone point out that I am quite large for having a baby who is already five weeks.
