Today Fraser turned one year old! This incredible day didn't seem to leave much of a lasting impression on Fraser, who was just happy to play with his toys and eat his books as usual. Fraser did have a little bit of an unusual birthday as he spent part of it in a graveyard when we attended a service for Andy's grandmother Dede. After the service we went out to lunch where Fraser got a birthday cupcake and balloon from Grandma Lynn, as well as some ice cream from our waitress. All in all, not a bad birthday :)Fraser had an early birthday celebration at my parents' house last weekend where he devoured some chocolate cake (there are two great videos of this posted on utube by my mom) and played in his personal kiddie pool. Yes well, it is a tough life. And now he still has one more birthday celebration to look forward to when we co-host a party for him and one of his friends that has the exact same birthday as him. What can I say, it's tough to be Fraser and have such a large adoring public to appease.
Now that Fraser is finally over his string of illnesses (knock on wood, cross my fingers, hop around in a circle and bark like a dog) he is back to his normal generally pleasant self. He has started getting very angry when he is prevented from doing things he wants to (opening cabinets, eating paper, biting the cats) and throwing some impressive temper tantrums. Several people have explained that this is perfectly normal behavior and evidence of the fact that Fraser is trying to assert his independence now. Personally I would prefer that he found slightly more constructive ways to assert his independence. For example, he could get a job and start contributing to the family finances. I'd even settle for his deciding to just do his own laundry.
