Fraser spent the rest of his day going to play group and, when we were home, staring in wide eyed fascination at the plumbers working on our house, which he was sure were some sort of walking-talking birthday toys just for him. The arrival of Fraser's six month birthday also seems to have officially announced the departure of Fraser's 9:30ish nap, the only nap he could be counted on with any consistency to actually take. The other moms assure me that the lack of morning nap (he now doesn't usually nap until 11:30ish, I say "usually" and laugh into my sleeve) is a sign that he is moving into a two nap schedule, which is, according to these wiser women, just as gratifying as chocolate or sex. (It is also, apparently, pretty standard that I am seeing a lot more of the former than the latter).
Of course these are also the same women who said confidently that Fraser would start sleeping through the night "pretty soon" when I joined the moms club when Fraser was three months old. Now I don't know about you, but I think we passed "pretty soon" at least a month ago. However, as I failed to get any of these women to commit to endorsing an actual date Fraser would start sleeping through the night, I guess I can only blame by disappointment on my obviously erroneous definition of "pretty soon."
It truly is amazing to me that Fraser is already six months old (and not just amazing from the perspective that I have let him live this long). So with that in mind I suppose I really do need to thank my fellow moms-group moms for reminding me that "pretty soon" is a relative term and it will no doubt be "pretty soon" before Fraser is crawling, and walking, and speaking, and heading off to school, and to college, and introducing me to some strange woman he intends to marry who, by the way, I finally now understand, will never ever be good enough for him.

hi- You don't know me, and I promise I am not an internet stalker, I swear. My name is Catherine, and I am Andy's cousin Joe's wife. I was doing some searching for a genealogy project I am doing on Joe's family and stumbled across your blog (you can send your thanks to google!) Anyways, I just wanted to tell you Fraser is a doll, your blog is great. We got your card today, when I showed Joe the picture I asked him who's baby is this? (covered up the name) He said, "That's Andy's son, no doubt he's a McBeth" :)
Anyways I am rambling like a fool. I just wanted to say hi and tell you how cute Fraser is, my boys thought he was adorable. If you would like to contact me - my email is justcath77@gmail.com.
Much Love,
Catherine
