In addition to peas and rice cereal Fraser has also tried zucchini, which he wasn't thrilled with at first but found tolerably edible by the fourth day it was presented to him, and avocado, which he loves. Last night I mashed up some avocado since Andy and I were having salmon with avocado and cilantro for dinner (no, Fraser did not get to try salmon or cilantro) and after a wary glance at the spoon and a look that clearly said "I dunno, that looks a lot like peas...." Fraser decided give it a shot. I think he figured at the very least he could always spray the pea-like substance all over the kitchen, which got such a great response last time. But lo and behold it was not peas! It was a delicious new slimy green substance! After I gave him the second spoonful and took the spoon out of his mouth he was immediately beating his little hands against the tray as if to say "Damn it woman, bring on more not-peas!"
Sadly for Fraser there was only enough avocado for one yummy meal, so tonight he will be introduced to butternut squash. I am holding out hope that it will receive a better reception that the poor peas, though I confess I am concerned that this might begin the dreaded phase of parenthood best summarized by the phrase "guess what Fraser's poop looked like today?!?"

Hi Zandy,
Your mom gave me the info on your site so I could see Fraser. He is just too cute for words. Sorry to hear he's not such a great sleeper though. I, unlike you, were fortunate enough to have 3 wonderful sleepers. Being that I breast fed all of them for the first 2 years of their lives,I have to say the wine I drank with dinner every night probably contributed to them sleeping through the night. Is that child abuse?? They don't appear to have been affected by the alcohol. Anyway, Vicki says your coming down for Thanksgiving, so I'll see you on Tuesday or Wednesday. Hang in there.
